Hi! This tutorial will provide an overview of how to access Simmons OneView; a tool used to conduct in-depth market research and analysis.
This tutorial will explain how to:
Simmons OneView contains extensive consumer survey data for large samplings of individuals and American households. It allows cross tabulation of hundreds of consumer product categories and usage data for over 8,000 brands, inclusive of consumer media habits, diverse demographic categories and psychographic (attitudinal and lifestyle) profiles.
Before using OneView it is important to remember the following:
You would normally access OneView from the Databases link on the Butler Libraries' homepage, or from a direct link on a LibGuide.
If you are viewing this tutorial on campus you should already be able to see the Simmons OneView login page on the right side of this screen.
If you're viewing this tutorial off campus, you should see a screen asking for your Butler ID and password. Enter this information now to access OneView.
Click on the proceed button in the middle of the page on the right side of this screen.
You should now be looking at the OneView interface.
Take a look at the OneView interface. You should notice the tabs at the top of the screen in the blue bar. Notice that we are in the "Profile" tab. You should also notice that "Crosstab" is also highlighted. This is the interface we will use to run a cross tabulation of Experian Consumer Survey Data.
OneView utilizes consumer data from various studies conducted by Experian. The studies are designed to investigate the consumer habits pertaining to spending, lifestyle choices, traditional and new media consumption of Hispanic and Non-Hispanic American households.
Before running a cross tabulation it is important to be able to determine which study you are currently using and how to change it if necessary.
Select the "Study" button from the bar near the top of the interface.
You should see a list of studies to choose from. After you have selected it, the name of the study will be displayed prominently on the top of the interface.
